Centre Wellington Child Care Co-op — Church to Daycare Conversion, Fergus ON

The Belsyde Avenue project involved converting a sealed-off portion of an active church into a fully licensed daycare facility — a space that had to feel welcoming and purpose-built for young children while sitting inside a building that has served the Fergus community for generations.

Working inside an older church building meant navigating the realities that come with structures built well before modern building standards — existing materials, hidden conditions, and construction methods that required careful problem-solving at every stage.

 

LUMA's approach throughout was to work with the building rather than against it, finding solutions that respected the existing fabric while delivering a completely transformed interior.
